The JAIST 20th Anniversary Events with the ICGA
(World Computer Chess Championship, Computer Olympiad and Conference)
will be held in Ishikawa, being the first time in Japan

We are pleased to announce that “The JAIST 20th Anniversary Events with the ICGA (International Computer Games Association, President David Levy)” will be held in Kanazawa. These events are: 18th World Computer Chess Championship, JAIST Computer Olympiad and International Conference on Computers and Games 2010. The contract for hosting this event was signed on October 5th, 2009 by ICGA President David Levy and JAIST President Takuya Katayama. The provisional dates are September 24th to October 2nd 2010. This is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding (October 1st, 1990) of JAIST.

In the contract signing ceremony, President Katayama mentioned: “2010 is the year of the 20th anniversary of the founding of JAIST, and then it is our great pleasure to host this event”. Followed by the ICGA president, saying “ICGA is happy and grateful for the opportunity to organize the events together with JAIST in Kanazawa, a city of history and culture”. Moreover, Professor Hiroyuki Iida was invited to join the ceremony. In his laboratory, a computer shogi program “TACOS” has been developed and won the gold medal in the shogi tournament of the 2008 and 2009 Computer Olympiad.
