As part of the Language Education Division of the Institute of General Education, our remit is to develop the English language proficiency of our students. Located on the ground floor of the School of Knowledge Science, we offer courses in Basic English, English for Academic Purposes and Critical Thinking. In addition, we provide writing consultations, pronunciation and presentation coaching for students.
Students with strong English language skills are offered instruction intended to further develop their academic and technical communication ability; other students, who have more fundamental English communication needs, are offered a range of courses intended to address these specific needs. All students are assisted to master discussion skills in English. Students are also expected to achieve a minimum level of English language proficiency as measured by standardized tests.
