  Internship Information and Internal Procedures

  What is an Internship?

  Internship is the system of having work experience relevant to their major and future career for a certain period on the actual working front for such as a company while students are in school. Since on-site-job-training is carried out as part of career education, it does not provide any advantage for the students to be accepted to the company as regular employees. It deepens your knowledge and expertise in the real world, provides you the measurement of future career, and helps you in raising awareness of the responsibilities of your profession.

  Internship at JAIST

  While we will notify you of internship opportunities anytime a company offers internships, it is possible for students to look for any company or office individually which accepts your participation of internship. All the participants in the internship program need to take prescribed procedures in case of an accident. In addition, if you plan to participate in the program, please consult with your advisor in advance to make sure that your internship participation does not interfere with your laboratory activity.

  * As for internships offered from companies to JAIST, please directly ask the Career Service Department.

  Internal Procedures for Internship Application

  When you plan to participate in an internship program, please make sure to carry Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (PAS), and Liability Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (LSR), in addition to submit required documents, such as an "Application for Internship Participation" to the Career Service Department irrespective of whether it is introduced from JAIST.

  Please note that the compensation of the insurance will not be effective when JAIST does not approve your internship participation beforehand.

  As for purchasing insurance and checking your status of subscription, please ask the Student Welfare Section of the Student Affairs Department.
