Education Programs to Satisfy a Variety of Study PurposesIn order to help students achieve their career goal, JAIST provides various education programs to satisfy different purposes of study. JAIST also supports students entering from the workforce by offering them flexible registration systems such as long-term registration.

5D Program 5D (5-year Doctoral) Program is designed for those who decide to continue their study to the doctoral level in the beginning of their Master's Program. It is an integrated education program from the master's level through the doctoral level. The completion of this program requires five years.
3D Program3D (3-year Doctoral) Program is a conventional doctoral level education program with a special emphasis on enhancing the ability of practical application. The completion of this program requires three years.
M ProgramM (Master's) Program is a conventional master's level education program with a special emphasis on enhancing the ability of practical application. The completion of this program requires two years.
Courses in the Institute of General Education to nurture feature leaders in the globalizing society.JAIST reviewed the courses which are common in 3 schools, restructured curriculum, and established the Institute of General Education. Courses in the Institute of General Education consist of 3 groups of courses: liberal Arts Courses, Communication Courses, and Career-Enhancing Courses.
With more globalization, society needs individuals who can play an important role. Courses in the Institute of General Education are systematic curriculum to enable students to learn an enhanced level of knowledge, greater awareness, receptiveness toward diversified cultures, and communication abilities including language competency and provide career education geared toward finding positions in society for individual specialties.
Liberal Arts Courses This group of courses was set up to equip students with mathematical reasoning, philosophical preparation, and understanding of the global economy which are needed to be a leader in the globalizing society.
Communication CoursesThis group of courses provides, through a systematic curriculum, English language education essential for students to play an active role in the international arena, and Japanese language education to equip the international students with Japanese language competency for business communication.
Career-Enhancing CoursesThis group of courses was set up to enable students to have viewpoints to utilize their own expertise in society and put them into practice while enhancing their knowledge and skills in their specialized fields.
Practical Education for Career DevelopmentIn order to educate and train human resources who can satisfy important social needs, JAIST continuously seeks to enrich practical courses based on students’ diverse career goals. JAIST encourages students to positively participate in off-campus training opportunities including research training within and without Japan and aims to train them as immediate assets of the society. JAIST’s career-enhancing advisors provide individual students appropriate guidance and advice regarding their registration problem and career search.
