  English Language Education Program

  For Fostering of International Scientists and Engineers

  JAIST offers a fundamentally bilingual environment as follows:

  1. 25% of the students are international students.
  2. 15% of the faculty members are non-Japanese.
  3. English is the working language for lectures in the doctoral courses.
  4. Both English and Japanese are used for written communications between and among faculty members and students.

  

   

  
  

  The English Technical Communication Program at JAIST offers educational training by English native speakers who are specialized in language and technical communication teaching in order for students to improve their communication skills, especially in the following areas:

  1. Written communications of a scientific nature, such as journal articles.
  2. Oral presentations, as well as conversation regarding advanced research topics.

  
  

  These communicative abilities will enable JAIST scientists and engineers to participate fully in international conferences, both in Japan and abroad.
