1) Number of GraduatesThere have been excellent numbers of graduates from JAIST to society: 4,486 master's degree graduates and 676 doctoral degree graduates (as of March 24, 2011).

2.Active Faculty
JAIST has recruited top class faculty members. The research facilities combine leading-edge technology, equipped with IT infrastructure, and world-class research has been conducted. The result has returned a wide variety of benefits in various forms.
1) The acceptance ratio of KAKENHI (Grant-in Aid for Scientific Research Promotion Project) in fiscal year of 2011 is ranked third among national universities.According to a press article published by MEXT on May 31, about KAKENHI applications in FY 2011, the new acceptance ratio of JAIST is 47.5%, which is ranked the sixth highest overall among all the universities and research institutes, it is ranked the third highest among all the national universities.
This shows the high level research in JAIST where the faculty members have been actively engaging in original and pioneering research.
KAKENHI, known as one of the most prestigious research funds in the country, aims at developing scientific research based on researcher's original ideas. It covers from the foundation to its application in all fields from humanities, and social science to natural science. Based on strict peer review as a competitive research fund, the KAKENHI is awarded to original and pioneering-innovative research from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology or (German) Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

2) The number of publications and the amount of joint/commissioned
research funding per faculty member are top class.The number of published papers per faculty member in FY 2008 is in the 6th place, which is a high ranking position in the national universities. The amount for joint/commissioned research funding per faculty member is the 3rd in national universities and its number of research undertaken per faculty member is the 1st place in national universities. This figures show the highest level of the vital research activities being conducted by the faculty in JAIST.

3.Internationalized Campus Environment
In JAIST, we have a high ratio of foreign nationals: 25% of the students are international students and 15% of the faculty members are foreign nationals (as of May, 2011).
English is the working language for lectures in the doctoral courses and both English and Japanese are used for written communications between and among faculty members and students.
JAIST has academic exchange agreements with 93 organizations in 26 countries in order to promote personnel exchange and joint research with overseas research organizations (as of June, 2011).
