Lectures/Syllabus
1. The Lectures in the School of Information Science have been classified into 4 levels, which reflect the broad range of knowledge offered in the field. They are: Introductory Lectures (I1xx), Fundamental Lectures (I2xx), Professional Lectures (I4xx), and Advanced Lectures (I6xx).
2. Introductory Lectures have been created primarily for students who do not have backgrounds in information science, while Advanced Lectures are meant for students pursuing doctoral degrees.
3. Most Fundamental Lectures are held twice a year.
4. Fundamental Lectures, Professional Lectures and Advanced Lectures have been further classified into 5 fields each (A, B, C, D and E), which are organized so that that they are complementary, and, when taken together, can foster a broader range of learning.
5. Students must earn a total of 20 credits in Shared, Introductory or Fundamental Lectures in 10 subjects, or from among those subjects covered by Advanced Lectures. These 20 credits must include credits in more than 5 subjects covered by Fundamental or Professional Lectures, and more than 16 of the credits must be taken in 8 subjects in 4 fields covered by Shared, Fundamental and Professional Lectures. In addition, for completion of the Master's or Doctoral courses, students must earn 10 credits in the compulsory subjects (I201-204, I 601-604) for those courses. (In the case of the Doctoral course, credits must be earned in 5 subjects from 2 fields).
6. Lectures are interdependent. For a description, please refer to http://www.jaist.ac.jp/is/htm/content-frame/content/03-2-1.htm
