01/JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (Standard)

• PROGRAM NAME:
  JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers (Standard)

• CANDIDATE (FELLOW) ELIGIBILITY:
  Each candidate for the Fellowship must:
  • 1) Be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan. (Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers will be treated in this manner.)
  • 2) Hold a doctorate degree when the Fellowship goes into effect, which must have been received on or after April 2, 2010, or be scheduled to receive a doctorate degree before the Fellowship goes into effect.

• DURATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF FELLOWSHIPS:
  • 1) 12 to 24 months
  • 2) Successful candidates must start the Fellowship in Japan during the following periods:
    • For the 1st Recruitment: Beginning of April, every year— End of September, every year
    • For the 2nd Recruitment: Beginning of September, every year — End of November, every year

• TERMS OF AWARD (FELLOWS ONLY):
  • 1) A round-trip air ticket (based on the JSPS regulations)
  • 2) A monthly maintenance allowance of 362,000 yen
  • 3) A settling-in allowance of 200,000 yen
  • 4) Overseas travel insurance, etc.

• DURATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF FELLOWSHIPS:
  • 1) 1 to 12 months
  • 2) Successful candidates must start the Fellowship in Japan during the following periods:
    • For the 1st Recruitment: April 1, 2017 — March 31, 2018
    • For the 2nd Recruitment: July 1, 2017 — March 31, 2018
    • For the 3rd Recruitment: October 1, 2017 — March 31, 2018
    • For the 4th Recruitment: January 1, 2018 — March 31, 2018

• TERMS OF AWARD (FELLOWS ONLY):
  • 1) A round-trip air ticket (based on the JSPS regulations)
  • 2-a) A monthly maintenance allowance of 362,000 yen for Ph.D. holders
  • 2-b) A monthly maintenance allowance of 200,000 yen for non-Ph.D. holders at the time research starts in Japan
  • 3) A settling-in allowance of 200,000 yen (only applicable for Fellows with 4 or more months of tenure)
  • 4) Overseas travel insurance, etc.
