<i><b><font size="+2">Goal/Scope</font></b></i>: ISW'97 is the first workshop
to give young researchers of information security the opportunity to
present papers at an international conference. The scope of the
workshop covers theory, technique, applications, and practical
experience on a variety of topics relevant to information security and
cryptography.
<p>

<i><b><font size="+2">Sponsors</font></b></i>: ISW'97 is sponsored by
Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and The
Engineering Sciences Society of IEICE in cooperation with IEEE IT
Society, Tokyo Chapter, and SITA.
<p>

<i><b><font size="+2">Invited Lectures</font></b></i>: There are invited
lectures and a special lecture done by Dr.  Bellare(UCSD), Dr.
Davida(UWM), Dr. Desmedt(UWM), Dr.  Preneel(K.U.  Leuven) and Dr.
Zheng(Monash U.).
<p>

<i><b><font size="+2">Proceedings</font></b></i>: Pre-proceedings will
be distributed at the workshop.  We are under negotiation with
Springer-Verlag on the publication of the final proceedings.
<p>

<i><b><font size="+2">Program</font></b></i>: The workshop starts at
13:00 on September 17, 1997 and ends at around 15:00 on September 19,
1997.  The preliminary program can be obtained from <a href="pprogram.html">
Preliminary Program</a>. This schedule is subject to change.
<p>
Lunch is not prepared for the first day. Please prepare for it by
yourself.  If you want, you can have lunch at a restaurant of Ishikawa
High-Tech Conference Center or at a cafeteria of JAIST.<br> <p>

<i><b><font size="+2">Place</font></b></i>: The workshop will be held at
Ishikawa High-Tech Conference Center which is located in front of
Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST). Please
refer to the maps of JAIST shown at <a href="location.html">
Location/Enviornment </a>.

<i><b><font size="+2">Registration</font></b></i>: All interested
parties are welcomed to participate in the workshop. Pre-registration
is strongly advised.  For registration, please print out the
registration form placed at <a href="registration.html">Workshop
Registration</a> and fill it out. Then send it by mail or by facsimile
to the address described at the ISW'97 homepage by August 31, 1997.
Registration fee covers a copy of proceedings and banquet.

<i><b><font size="+2">Stipend</font></b></i>: Stipends are available to
students unable to obtain funding and who present a paper themselves.
Students are invited to apply if such assistance is needed. Requests
for stipends should be directed to the organizing chair.
<p>


<i><b><font size="+2">Hotel</font></b></i>: Upon your request we book 
a room in Kanazawa Kokusai Hotel.
(Kokusai means international in Japanese. This hotel is also called
Kanazawa International Hotel.)

Kanazawa Kokusai Hotel has limousine service to the Ishikawa High-Tech
Conference Center.<br>
Banquet is held in this hotel on September 17, 1997.
<p>

Other accommodations: Ishikawa High-Tech Conference Center doesn't
have many rooms and there isn't any hotel near Ishikawa High-Tech
Conference Center. You have to go to Tsurugi (about 15 minute drive)
where you can find Ryokan, Japanese traditional hotel, with/without a
hot spring.  There is a hotel with a hot spring inside Tatsunokuchi,
but you have to come by taxi (about 15 minute).

few well-preserved old cities in Japan and many tourists visit
