Abstract:
A novel silica- functionalized imidazolium based IL with Br- as counter anion has been synthesized via two step process. Anion exchange reaction was carried out to change Br- as counter anion to FSI- anion (Figure 1). This novel IL has been successfully characterized with the help of NMR and IR spectroscopy. Its electrochemical properties have been studied as electrolyte for Li-ion batteries. This IL showed ionic conductivity of the order of 10-5 S/cm at 51 °C which increased by one order to 10-4 S/cm at 51 °C with the addition of 1 eq. of LiFSI salt. Its Li-transference number was observed to be 0.48.
