Engineering Design, Integrated Product Development

Research Interests

My research interests focus on the systematic support of conceptual design processes with procedures,
methods and tools taking into consideration the characteristics of the design situation. In my PhD thesis I
created an integrated view on the topics design situation, design procedure and design method.
My aim is to promote the designer’s creativity by providing him adequate procedures and methods in a
specific design situation. A procedure or method is adequate if it fits to the designer’s task at hand, the
personal characteristics of the designer and the boundary conditions (resources, time limitations etc.).
