Mission
			In the knowledge society of the Twenty-First Century, the expectations for knowledge creation education and research that makes full use of the latest technology is extremely high. The major mission of center of knowledge science is to promote research and development of knowledge creation support systems in JAIST including school of knowledge science, as well as external research institutes and companies. The center takes the vision of knowledge creation and will work on leading it to practical technology.
		R&D: Knowledge Creation Media Supporting Systems
			We are engaged in implementation of knowledge creation media supporting systems. The architecture of the supporting systems is a fusion of four supporting environments such as the Knowledge Simulator, the Knowledge Creation Community, the Aware-Laboratory, and the Media-Arts. The Knowledge Simulator is a knowledge processing system such as very large knowledge based systems, model-based systems, complex systems simulation. The Knowledge Creation Community integrates some research areas such as digital archive and digital city to provide knowledge creation media environment. The Aware-Laboratory utilizes IT Technologies such as ubiquitous and wearable computing to enable an aged & welfare society to be safe and secure. The Media-Arts focuses on artistic creations and its supports in cooperation with Creators, Engineers (researchers), and User (Audience).
		Facilitating Coordination in Education & Research of Knowledge Creation
			The center plays a critical role in coordinating the following actives: utilization of the knowledge creation support systems the center has developed to enrich education and research at JAIST, promotion of exchanging researchers with other institutions, promotion of formulating the seeds for the cooperative research, and use of distance learning with enterprises and think-tanks.
