1. Scholarship loans by the Japan Student
Services Organization (JASSO) Website

Students requiring financial assistance who demonstrate
outstanding character and academic performance are eligible to apply for JASSO
scholarship loans.
JASSO accepts applications for scholarship loans in April of
each year from students already enrolled at JAIST, and in November from
students who are informally accepted by JAIST in October.
Emergency applications for scholarship loans are accepted at
anytime from students who require financial assistance due to a sudden change in
the circumstances of the household's main breadwinner, such as unemployment, personal
bankruptcy, company bankruptcy, illness or death, or a sudden change in financial
situation due to disasters.

2. Stipendiary scholarships for JAIST students
The JAIST stipendiary scholarship system has been established for the purpose of providing financial assistance for students currently enrolled in SD programs, and excellent students currently enrolled in 5D doctoral programs demonstrating outstanding character and academic performance.
SD Programs
Amount per month
for each type of student is as follows:

currently enrolled in doctoral programs: 150,000 yen/month
5D Programs
Stipendiary scholarships
are provided to students currently enrolled in 5D doctoral programs who
demonstrate outstanding character and academic performance.

3. The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Research Fellowship for Young Scientists
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) offers this research fellowship for the purpose of contributing to cultivating and securing creative researchers who are capable of forging future academic research in Japan by providing opportunities to excellent young researchers to devote themselves to research. JSPS adopts researchers meeting the following conditions as JSPS fellows to provide this research fellowship: graduate students who are currently enrolled in doctoral programs, postdoctoral researchers who have demonstrated excellent research abilities and express the desire to pursue their research at universities or other research institutions, and researchers who have enrolled in doctoral programs demonstrating excellent ability and the motivation to become leading researchers in Japan.

4. Financial Assistance provided by the JAIST Foundation
The JAIST Foundation
offers financial assistance scholarship loans to newly enrolled JAIST students
with outstanding character and academic performance who have a desire to work
in Ishikawa, Toyama, or Fukui Prefecture.
We accept applications in April every year. For more
information, please contact the Welfare Section, Student Services Department.

5. JAIST
Foundation Research Grant for Students
The JAIST Foundation offers this research grant to students
in doctoral programs who are recognized for their creative and excellent
research to provide financial support for research presentations at international
conferences, etc.
Applications are accepted in June and October of every year.
