¢£Degrees

B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. from Tokyo Institute of Technology (1970,1972,1995)

¢£Professional Career

Leader of a research project that developed an LISP machine named ELIS(1979-1992), The Human Interface Laboratories of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (1987)

¢£Specialties

Computer Architecture, Symbol Processing Systems, Multimedia Communication

¢£Research Interests

Multimedia Communication in the Ubiquitous Computing Environment:
The novel concept of OPUS World is the transferable access of communication services instead of portable and personal devices. We plan to investigate the basic technologies needed to realize OPUS World, focusing on switching and signaling technology that utilizes the D-channel outband signaling capability of ISDN.
Human Interface Oriented Language:
In the ubiquitous computing environment, the importance of human interface will increase and become serious because of differences in communication media and terminal device functions. We study a new programming language oriented human interface facility as a unified and systematic way to solve these problems.
Symbol Processing Architecture for Problem Solving under Real Time Constraints:
Knowledge base systems based on symbol processing, especially those based on conventional LISP, have several undesirable characteristics with respect to real time constraints. To overcome those difficulties, we are going to adopt architectural approaches supporting frequent interruptions and intensive memory consumption. The final goal is to construct a massively parallel symbol processing architecture.
