■Research Interests

Incorporation of Nonnatural Amino Acids into Proteins through Extension of the Genetic Code
We have developed a novel system that allows us to introduce "nonnatural amino acids" into specific positions of proteins by using "four-base codons". Using this system, the following studies are in progress.
- Structural and functional analysis of proteins by introducing fluorescent amino acids
- Improvement of technology for nonnatural amino acid incorporation
- Incorporation of modified amino acids into proteins
- Development of novel site-directed mutagenesis technology
