Research Fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (1993), Research Associate Institute of Space and Astronautical Science(1996), Research Associate The Univ. of Tokyo(1999), PRESTO Researcher, Japan Science and Technology Agency(2003-2007)

■Specialties

Microfabrication, Microfluidics, Biochip, micro plasma

■Research Keywords

DNA analysis, electroosmosis pump, nano-channnel, micro elemental analyzer

■Research Interests

Creation of high functional biochip employing nanofabrication technique
We are developing novel microfluidic device employing the interaction between nanofabricated structure and bio-molecule. Especially, the DNA-trap using hydraulic and electric force field in taper-shape channel is expected to be used for pretreatment and pre concentration in DNA chip.
Development of integrated biochemical micro fluidic device using linear stepping actuator
For the next generation of biochip technologies, on-chip precise micro liquid handling methods are developed. We focused on the architectures using low-voltage electroosmosis pump and linear stepping actuator.
Development of micro elemental analyzer using liquid electrode plasma
A high sensitive micro elemental analyzer is developed employing liquid electrode plasma optical emission spectroscopy (LEP-OES). The liquid sample is injected into micro fluidic channel whose center made narrower. Electric voltage is applied from both ends of the channel then plasma is generated. From these spectra, elemental concentration is able to be measured.
