◆Research Interests

Our main research program is concerned with an olefin polymerization catalyst. The world polyolefin industry is quite huge and is still increasing remarkably. A new type of catalyst which can produce a polymer with a new property is eagerly requested to develop as it is easier for the existing plant to change the catalyst than to modify the process. Our research group is trying to develop new types of olefin polymerization catalysts having the controllability for the polymer property and its microstructure. The theoretical background of our group is kinetics which is quite important and useful for understanding the polymerization mechanism. A stopped flow method is mainly applied for the purpose, especially to study the initial stage of polymerization. Following figure is the typical equipment used in the study.Polymerization time can be controlled from 0.05s to 1s by changing the length from (a) to (b).


Moreover, our group is trying to develop novel olefin base polymers that can be used in a variety of fields.
