Titanates attract considerable interest owing to their wide variety of functionalities such as ferroelectricity, superconductivity, catalyst, and numerous surface and interface effects. This talk mainly focuses on two topics: 1) Electron transport properties and electronic structure of transparent conducting TiO2 thin films, 2) Atomic-scale investigation of SrTiO3 homoepitaxial thin films using low-temperature STM/STS. These studies reveal physics of nonmetal-metal transition, transparent conductivity, and charge ordering in those d0 titanates.

The seminar is organized by eight tenure-track Lecturers of Schools of Materials Science, Information Science and Knowledge Science in the framework of the Research Center for Integrated Science and supported by the program “Development of Personnel System for Young Researchers in Nanotechnology and Materials Science”.Seminar language is English. We welcome everyone who has interest in the topic.
