Titanates attract considerable interest owing to their wide variety of functionalities such as ferroelectricity, superconductivity, catalyst, and numerous surface and interface effects. This talk mainly focuses on two topics: 1) Electron transport properties and electronic structure of transparent conducting TiO2 thin films, 2) Atomic-scale investigation of SrTiO3 homoepitaxial thin films using low-temperature STM/STS. These studies reveal physics of nonmetal-metal transition, transparent conductivity, and charge ordering in those d0 titanates.
