SC12

The SC Conference is the world’s biggest international conference on HPC (high performance computing) related matters, having research presentations and exhibits about the technology and the products necessary for HPC and its operation. The conference started spontaneously among researchers at American national institutes. The first conference (SC1988) was held in Orlando, Florida.
The SC Conference originally focused on the HPC fields, however, increasing the importance of networking and storage in the HPC, the official name of the conference was changing as added “Networking” to the original name in 2002 and added more “Storage and Analysis” in 2004. The official name now is “The International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis.” The SC Conference this year (SC12) was held in Salt Lake City, Utah, from November 10th through 16th.
The JAIST members, such as the then Information Science Center members, have participated in the conference since early 2000s, and had the JAIST booth to be involved in more actively since 2008 (SC08). The members joined in the conference this year (SC12) includes the Research Center for Advanced Computing Infrastructure related people such as 5 professors, 3 students and a technical staff (FUTATSUDERA, Masatomo) from our Technical Services Department.
