Knowledge Discovery and Data Management in Biomedical Science (KDDMBS)
Hanoi, Vietnam, May 18th, 2005
In conjunction with PAKDD-05 (http://www.jaist.ac.jp/PAKDD-05)
Along with the development of high-throughput technologies in
molecular experiments, biology is gradually shifting its research
approach towards comprehensive and data-driven methods. Establishing a
methodology for knowledge discovery and management of large amounts of
heterogeneous data has therefore become a main priority in
bioinformatics. To accomplish this objective, both practical
applications and theoretical research will be essential.
Organized in conjunction with PAKDD-05, the goal of this workshop is
to attract various researchers from both computer science and
bioinformatics for sharing and exchanging their awareness of current
research issues, technologies, and ideas. Papers are welcome from
topics related to various data- and knowledge-based approaches in
bioinformatics, such as (but not limited to) the following:
[computational keywords]
- Database integration and management
- Knowledge discovery and data mining
- Prediction by machine learning
- Information retrieval and extraction
- Linguistic and semantic resources including dictionary and ontology
[biomedical keywords]
- Molecular interaction analysis
- Analysis and simulation on molecular network and pathway
- Extraction of functional information from biomedical literature
- Computer-aided annotation
- Chemoinformatics
- Drug discovery
- Diagnosis and healthcare
Submission Guideline:
All papers should not exceed 12 single-spaced pages on A4 paper size
(or 5000 words), using at least 1 inch margins and 12-point
font. When submitting, please send an electronic version (.pdf) of
your paper to the email address below.
kddmbs-submit@jaist.ac.jp
Publication:
All the accepted *and* presented papers will be included in the
proceedings available on-site during the workshop. The proceedings
will be published by Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology
(VAST). To be included in the proceedings, at least one of the
authors must confirm his/her attendance to the workshop and present
the paper. Authors of accepted papers must complete a confirmation
form and submit it with the camera-ready version of the paper.
