About Kanazawa

Larger Map

Kanazawa is one of Japan's foremost castle towns. The city boasts many places of historic and aesthetic interest, such as the splendid Kenrokuen, known as one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan, and lshikawa-mon, the commanding gate to the old castle grounds. In Kanazawa, one is acutely aware of the changing seasons. Not only is Kanazawa's natural scenery a colorful delight year-round, but every seasonal change is so carefully celebrated in Kanazawa's traditional cuisine, decor and yearly events that one comes to feel as if there are many more than four seasons. The following links are useful to know about Kanazawa.

Conference site

The conference will be held at Kanazawa Culture Hall. You can find the place in the map above (click larger map if you want to see larger one). The access information is as follows:

Address
Kanazawa Culture Hall, 15-1 Takaoka-cho, Kanazawa-city, Ishikawa 920-0864, Japan.
Tel: +81-76-223-1221, Fax: +81-76-223-1299
From JR Kanazawa station
You can take a taxi or a bus at east exit of the station. (We also have taxi and bus at west exit, but it is not a good idea to take there. You can walk through the station from west to east.) Taxi takes 10 minutes, and bus takes 15 minutes. We say "Kanazawa Bunka Hall" in Japanese. When you take a bus, use terminal 7, 8, or 9, and get off the bus at the bus stop named "Minami-cho", which is the 3rd stop. From the bus stop, it takes 3 minutes to the hall. You also can walk from the station to the hall; the distance is 1.3 km, and it takes around 15-20 minutes.
From Komatsu airport
From Komatsu airport, you can take a bus to Kanazawa station. There are two kinds of buses; one bus will reach to the station with few stops. It takes 40-50 minutes to the station. Another bus will reach to the station with several stops. It takes 50-60 minutes to the station. The latter bus will stop the bus stop "Koh-rin-bo". From the "Koh-rin-bo", it takes 5 minutes to the hall.
Landmark
The closest intersection is named "Oyama-jinja-mae" which means "in front of Oyama shrine". At the intersection, you can see "Kanazawa New Grand Hotel" and "Oyama shrine". Oppsite side of "Oyama shrine" and behind the "Kanazawa New Grand Hotel", you can find the conference site.

Hotels

There are tons of hotels around Kanazawa Station, Korinbo, and Katamachi area. We prepare no conference rate for specific hotels, since they are more expensive than your direct reservation on the net. The following hotels are close to the conference site (Kanazawa Culture Hall).

Above hotels and many hotels aroud the Kanazawa station is not so expensive. Average rate would be around 4000-10000 yen per night. Most hotels serve the internet connection freely, and you can choose if you take breakfast there or not. If you like better hotel, the following hotels are recommended (all those hotels are just in front of the Kanazawa station, east exit):
