Mr.MD Abdus Sattar of School of Material Science was awarded an Excellent Presentation Award at the International Symposium on Atomic Level Characterization for New Materials and Devices.

Mr. MD Abdus Sattar a 3rd year doctoral student in Mizutani Lab. of School of Materials Science was awarded an Excellent Presentation Award at the International Symposium on Atomic Level Characterization for New Materials and Devices.

International Symposium on Atomic Level Characterizations for New Materials and Devices (ALC) symposia started in 1996 and focuses on practical applications of atomic level characterization (both atomic dimensions and energy levels) of new materials and devices, organized by The 141st Committee on Microbeam Analysis of JSPS. This is the tenth symposium and was held in Matsue, Shimane-prefecture. Among the 200 poster presentations, 25 papers were nominated based on the proceedings manuscripts, and finally 5 winners of the awards were selected after the reviewers visited the nominees' posters.

[Title] Hydrogen desorption kinetics from H-Si(111) surfaces studied by sum frequency generation and second harmonic generation
[Abstract] In this study, the hydrogen desorption from a flat H-Si (111)1x1 surface was investigated at 711K by observing sum frequency generation (SFG) and second harmonic generation (SHG) spectra. As the result the hydrogen desorption mechanism at lower coverages was found to be different from that believed so far.
[Comment] First I would like to give thanks to ALC'15' organizers who gave me a nice chance to attend this type of interesting international Symposium and handed me the Excellent Presentation Award. I would like to give special thanks to my supervisor Professor Goro Mizutani, who gave me the strong support in and out of research. Not forget to express many thanks to all members in our laboratory, especially Assistant Professor Khuat Thi Thu Hien, Former Assistant Professor Yoshihiro Miyauchi and Professor Harvey Rutt, university of Southampton, UK. All of them are supported and encourage me. I will try to study harder in future for getting further results.
