In June 2026, Wiley, a global academic publisher, and IQVIA, a global healthcare company, released an international report titled Scientific Discovery & AI: The Science-to-Patient Journey, exploring the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in scientific discovery.

The report was developed based on discussions held at The Summit, an invitation-only international meeting co-hosted by Wiley and IQVIA in May 2026. The meeting brought together leaders from diverse sectors related to science, healthcare, and AI, including pharmaceutical companies, universities, healthcare institutions, technology companies, academic publishers, and scholarly societies. Participants discussed opportunities and challenges in applying AI to translate scientific discovery into real-world and patient impact.

The report highlights both the opportunities and challenges of AI across the process from scientific discovery to patient benefit, and emphasizes the importance of cross-sector collaboration.

In the announcement accompanying the report, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) was listed as one of the participating organizations.
