Disaster drill event by Nomi International Exchange Association in 2026 "Let's all learn about disaster prevention!"
On Tuesday, July 7, a disaster drill event was held at JAIST gymnasium by Nomi International Exchange Association, and 25 international students participated.
On the day, the students took a basic disaster preparedness lecture. They learned about the damage caused by the Noto Peninsula earthquake and what is necessary for living in evacuation shelters. They also discussed the importance of regular preparedness. For the students who are studying abroad from regions with little experience of earthquakes, learning about disaster measures and life in evacuation situations seemed to be an extremely valuable opportunity.
During the event, there was also time to interact with local residents. Participants got to try emergency food and experience setting up emergency beds and toilets. It was a meaningful time to get a taste of what evacuation life is like, deepen understanding of disasters, and learn what to do when the time comes.
