On May 28, DGGL welcomed six participants with diverse academic and ethnic backgrounds.
They were divided into two small groups to practice presenting their research \u2014 beginning with a one-minute overview, followed by a four-minute deep dive and Q&A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This session emphasized the ability to summarize research in a single sentence<\/strong> and to connect research ideas with social issues<\/strong>.
Students used visual tools and metaphors to clarify complex topics, and also learned to recognize hidden assumptions in their own thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who hadn’t yet defined a research topic, presenting ideas based on their undergraduate studies or interests led to meaningful feedback and new insights.
Returning students showed improvement in both confidence and clarity, with some able to explain their research using simplified English and more logical structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next week, on Wednesday, June 4<\/strong>, we\u2019ll launch the very first session of our new English Conversation DGGL<\/strong>!
Unlike the usual format, this gathering will focus on casual English communication \u2014 and we\u2019ll be sure to report on that as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
