Termination of "/work" directory service for computing servers

The current service of "/work", which is used as a woking directory on

computing servers (login names : xc40, lmpcc, vpcc),  will be terminated

at the end of December 2020.

As the next service, we are planning to provide high speed I/O volume

service That is different in usage from the current service. Details will be

announced separately.

If you have data in the "/work" directory of each computing server, please

read the following instructions and move your data before the end of the service.

If your collaborators outside JAIST are also using Cray XC40, please forward

this announcement to them if necessary.

  <<Details>>

 1. Details of service termination

The working directory "/work" of computing servers(login names : xc40, lmpcc, vpcc)

 2. Service termination date and time

   December 31, 2020, at 12midnight

 3. Cautions

3.1 The system will be shut down without notice after the service ends.

3.2 After the service is terminated, you will not be able to access your data

     in "/work" directory.

Be sure to move the necessary data to the home directory "/home" (*1)

or "Project" directory (*2) before the service ends.

3.3 On Computing servers "lmpcc" and "vpcc", you can execute jobs from

your "/home" directory or "Project" directory.

Please change the job execution directory as soon as possible.

3.4 It may take longer than expected to move your data.

It may take several weeks to move your 1TB data because many users will be moving

data at the same time and the I/O load will increase.

Be sure to move your data with a sufficient margin.
