The Third International Conference on Parallel and
Distributed Computing, Applications and Technologies (PDCAT'02)

3-6 September 2002 - Kanazawa Bunka Hall, Kanazawa, Japan

Sponsored by
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology,
Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology,
IEICE Hokuriku Branch, IEEE Nagoya Section

The International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing, Applications and Technologies (PDCAT) is a major forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners throughout the world to present the latest research, results, ideas, developments and applications in all areas of parallel and distributed computing. Following PDCAT'00 in Hong Kong, PDCAT'01 in Taipei, PDCAT'02 will be held in Kanazawa, the home of Hokuriku in Japan.

Kanazawa, the biggest city in the Hokuriku region has a population of 450,000, and is a castle town that was ruled over by the Maeda family for three centuries after the first lord Toshiie Maeda entered Kanazawa Castle in 1583. The development of its special products like rice, sake, sweets, etc. was due to its temperate and rainy climate with heavy snow in winter.

Kanazawa is surrounded by the Japan Alps, Hakusan National Park and Noto Peninsula National Park. Two rivers run through the city; the Sai is said to be a lively masculine river and the Asano to be a sweet, feminine river. Such a natural background of great beauty gives the city a relaxed feeling. The buildings that gave birth to a high level of Japanese traditional craftsmanship stand tranquilly and blend in with the modern atmosphere in Kanazawa to create a charming ancient castle town.

Scope
The main focus for PDCAT'02 will be parallel and distributed computing viewed from the three perspectives of networking and architectures, software systems and technologies, algorithms and applications. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Papers reporting original and unpublished research results and experience are solicited. Papers will be selected based on their originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

Submissions should include an abstract, key words, the e-mail address of the corresponding author, and must not exceed 15 pages, including tables and figures. Submission of a paper should be regarded as an undertaking that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will attend the conference to present the work.

Submissions to PDCAT'02 will be conducted electronically. Authors unable to access e-mail may send 4 hard copies of their papers to:

TUTORIALS/WORKSHOPS
Workshops/special sessions and half-day tutorials are being planned for PDCAT'02. Each workshop will focus on a particular topic, and consists of several presentations and open discussion. A one-page abstract of each workshop presentation will be published in the conference proceedings. The proposal for a workshop/special session should include the title, topics covered, proposed/invited speakers, and estimated length (hours) of the workshop. Each tutorial proposal should provide the title, topics, targeted audiences, and instructor's biography. Anyone wishing to organize a workshop/special session or tutorial should submit a proposal by June 1, 2002 to the conference address (preferably via email) listed above.
