Real World Haptics - A Door to New Mutimedia -

Abstract: Recent development of transmitting tactile sensation, generally called real world haptics, must open a new area in human communications. In fact we have industrialized only two of five sensations in the past, however they are very successful and have made our society convenient and comfortable. It is natural that people have thought one more sensation must give us more vivid “experience” together with visual and audible sensations. Many people have challenged this technology, and little success has been attained so far. The question is how we realize transmitting tactile sensation from one to another. The talk will include the novel method of this interesting technology and some applications.
