• 講演内容:
  Deep space exploration is one of the most challenging applications for dependable computing researches. Some of the challenges are due to the extreme environments in deep space and physical constraints in spacecraft, while the other challenges are more programmatically related (e.g., cost, risk, and schedule). This seminar will first describe how Jet Propulsion Laboratory overcame these challenges in previous missions. Then, it will discuss the new challenges in the next generation deep space missions. These missions are typically characterized by planetary landers and rovers, and will have much more ambitious requirements such as precision landing and hazard avoidance. Some of the researches to address these new challenges will be described in details. Finally, it will discuss the challenges of future missions, which are likely to be dominated by formation flying and interplanetary network, and what researches are needed to meet these challenges.
