STAR-structured relaying

Summarry:
The goal of the STAR-CODE project is the efficient use of relay-based wireless networks by exploiting recent advances in network information theory and coding theory. Star-structured network topologies with a central relay are the platform for this project. By focusing on star-structured networks, we will extend results for simple networks to complicated networks. Expected outcomes include new algorithms, theorems, coding schemes, and scheduling methods to improve the data throughput, reduce the power use, and increase the reliability of star-structured network topologies. Examples of applications include disaster-area communication systems, universal wireless access in rural areas, sensor networks and vehicle-to-vehicle communications.
