Renewal Procedure for Library User's Card (For the General Public)


If your JAIST library user's card expires on April 30, 2024 and you would like to continue to use our library, please follow the instructions below for the renewal.

Renewal applications are accepted
from 9:00 a.m. on April 1 (Mon.), 2024

  • If you fail to submit us any of the required items, we will NOT be able to proceed with your renewal. Please read this webpage carefully before the procedure.
  • The deadline for renewal procedures is March 31, 2025. After April 1, 2025, you will need to come to JAIST library for making a new card instead of renewing.
  • It will be crowded in early April, so please cooperate with us in applying for renewal dispersedly.

Visit JAIST Library for renewal procedures


Please bring the following items to JAIST Library during the reception hours.

  • ID to confirm your present address and age
      driver's license, residence card, etc.
  • "Application Form for Using the Library" (for Renew)
      Please fill in the required information.
      If you are a high school student or under 18 years old, your parent's signature and hanko seal are required.
      * You can download the form from HERE.
      * You can also fill out "Application Form for Using the Library" (for Renew) at the information counter in the library.
  • (For student only) An identification document certifying your status as a student
      student ID card, school certificate, etc.
  • Your current library user's card
      Expiration date: April 30, 2024
Reception Hours 8:30-17:00 on weekdays
(except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays)


Renewal procedures by mail


Please send us the following items by mail.

  • A copy of both sides of ID to confirm your present address and age
      a copy of both sides of driver's license, residence card, etc.
  • "Application Form for Using the Library" (for Renew)
      Please fill in the required information.
      If you are a high school student or under 18 years old, your parent's signature and hanko seal are required.
      * You can download the form from HERE.
  • (For students only) A copy of an identification document certifying your status as a student
      a copy of student ID card, school certificate, etc.
  • Your current library user's card
      Expiration date: April 30, 2024
  • One facial portrait (Color/3 x 2.5 cm)
      taken within the last 6 months
      * A color copy of the facial portrait of your ID (driver's license, residence card, etc.) can be substituted.
  • 84-yen stamp for sending the renewed card

PARKING LOT Users


Please apply for a parking permit at Facility Management Department of JAIST with the renewed library user's card.


The reception starts on April 1 (Mon.), 2024

Reception Hours 9:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00 on Weekdays
(except Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays)
  • The office will be closed on April 11 (Thu.) and April 12 (Fri.).
  • You CANNOT apply for a parking permit by mail.
