PICMET JAPANはアメリカオレゴン州ポートランドを中心に開催される,技術経営の国際会議PICMETの非営利・日本チャプターとして2004年から活動を始めました.毎年,技術経営に関するホットな話題を産・学・官から一流の講師陣をお招きしてご講演いただき,参加者と共に活発な議論を行っています.
PICMET Japan is a nonprofit Japan chapter of the international conference on managing of engineering and technology, PICMET, convened since 2004. The conference of PICMET Japan is held once a year inviting qualified guest speaker from academic institutions, industrial corporations, and government agencies, having lively discussions with the participants.

Dr. Kiyoshi Niwa is a Professor Emeritus, The University of Tokyo since 2010, after serving a Professor for 16 years in the department of General Systems Studies at the University of Tokyo. Before joining the university he served with the Advanced Research Laboratory (1985 to 1994) and the Systems Development Laboratory (1972 to 1985), both at Hitachi, Ltd., Japan. Since 1988 he also has been a Fellow in the IC2 (Innovation Creativity and Capital) Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, USA. From 1989 to 1991 he was a Visiting Professor of Engineering Management Program at Portland State University, USA.
Dr. Niwa received his BS (1970) and MS (1972) in physical chemistry from Waseda University, Japan. While working as a research scientist at Hitachi, he received his Dr. of Engineering (1986) in systems science from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan.
His research interests include technology and innovation management. He has published in journals such as IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management; IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernectics; AI Magazine; Knowledge Engineering Review; and the Journal of the Japan Society for Management Information. He is the author of the books Knowledge-Based Risk Management in Engineering (John Wiley, 1989) , Technology Management (University of Tokyo Press, 2006), Innovation Strategy (University of Tokyo Press, 2010), and Technology Management Research for Innovation (University of Tokyo Press, 2013). He is also a co-editor of PICMET '91, '97, '99, and '01. He serves on the PICMET Co-Director of International Activities. Dr. Niwa received PICMET Medal of Excellence award in 2004.

現在, 北陸先端科学技術大学院大学 准教授. 東京大学大学院総合文化研究科広域科学専攻博士課程修了. 学術博士.2009年JAIST助教を経て2012年より現職. PICMET Program Committee. 2010年からテキサス州立大学マーケティング研究科客員研究員.技術系企業・サービス企業の組織活性化に関する実証的研究や,脳計測装置を用いて客観的に人間の感情を分析する研究を行っている.最近ではマーケティングの視点からサービス価値創造モデルおよびサービス・イノベーションに向けた共創のあり方について研究している.主な業績として, 『横断型科学技術とサービス・イノベーション』(分担執筆, 社会評論社, 2010), Near-infrared spectroscopy approach for web based service marketing (PICMET, 2010), の他,International Journal of Automotive Technology and Management,International Journal of Technology Management, International Journal of Innovation and Technology Management, 研究・技術・計画などに論文を発表している.2011年,QUIS best paper awardを受賞.

Kunio Shirahada is an associate professor in Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology from 2009. He received his Ph.D at the University of Tokyo in 2009. His research interests include sustainability of service, neuro-marketing using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) technology, motivation management for service employees, and innovative organization design. He has published in the Int. J of Technology Management, Int. J of Automotive Technology Management, Int. J of Innovation and technology management, and other Japanese research papers. He will present his paper at Frontiers in Service Conference, QUIS12, and Transformative Service Conference on June 2011. He presented his papers at PICMET (Portland International Conference on Management of Engineering and Technology) in every years from 2005, as well as other conferences.

Takehisa Seino is a senior manager of Corporate Manufacturing Engineering Center in Toshiba.co. He is promoting manufacturing technology management, including research and development management, project management, innovation activities.

Kazuhiko Itaya is a chief research scientist of Toshiba Research & Development Center. He has been working on research and development of advanced materials and devices for more than twenty years since joining Toshiba. He was also a visiting scholar of University of California Santa Barbara from 1993 to 1995, and served as an innovation promotion staff member from 1999 to 2002.
Dr. Itaya received his BS (1984) and MS (1986) in coordinated sciences from the University of Tokyo, Japan. While working as a senior research scientist at Toshiba, he received his Ph.D. in engineering (2002) from the University of Tokyo. He also received his Ph.D. in arts and sciences (2010), finishing the Ph. D. program of the Department of General Systems Studies at the University of Tokyo. He has authored and co-authored more than 100 technical papers. He extended his interest towards technology management fields and also has begun to publish papers in these fields. Dr. Itaya is a member of the Japan society of applied physics, and a member of the Japan society for science policy and research management. He also serves on the PICMET as a program committee member and chairperson of PICMET ’07, ’09, and ’11.

現在, Arthur D.Little (Japan), Inc コンサルタント. 東京大学大学院総合文化研究科広域科学専攻修士課程修了. 修士研究として,研究開発人材の発明・発見時の試行錯誤行動を分析.2008年には研究技術計画学会にて研究発表を行う(発表題目「イノベーションを生み出す研究開発行動の分析Ⅰ:試行のモデル化による行動の分類とその応用」).2009年よりArthur D.Little (Japan), Incに入社,主に機械・電力機器等の製造業 企業に対する事業戦略支援に従事している.2011年のPICMETには,Analysis of Trial and Error Mindset of Corporate R&D Personnel and its Relationship to Organizational Factors(白肌氏と共著)として研究論文を執筆.
