We conduct research on science and technology for social data, media, and culture, from theory to practice, in order to pioneer “knowing” for us, human society. By utilizing the creative imagination of the human intellect, 1) Basic research on innovative knowledge discovery and co-creation by combining artificial intelligence and computer simulation using big data with human insight and imagination, 2) Research on media that support human imaginative behavior, social media, human interaction, and human-centered media that support our deep learning, skill acquisition, and living, 3) Combining these studies to explore and solve social issues that exist for individuals, groups, and organizations, as well as for knowledge society, culture, and the earth.

As a foundation for this, students can learn 1) data science, systems science, cognitive science, artificial intelligence and machine learning, statistics, logic, 2) computer simulation, multi-agent simulation, human-media research (HCI, CSCW), time-space digital content (VR/AR/XR), and 3) research methods (social sciences, human-computer interaction, education, etc.), field work, philosophy, observation, hypothesis generation, creativity techniques, and innovation.
