Ms. LIU received Student Paper Award in NCSP'24

Ms. LIU, Yuning (3rd-year doctoral student in Unoki Lab, Human Information Science Research Area) received Student Paper Award in 2024 RISP International Workshop on Nonlinear Circuits, Communications and Signal Processing (NCSP'24).

NCSP'24 was an International Workshop on Nonlinear Circuits, Communications and Signal Processing organized by the Research Institute of Signal Processing, Japan (RISP) and held in Honolulu, Hawaii from February 27 to March 1, 2024. RISP holds this conference every year to promote the development of the signal processing field in a broad sense, to deepen mutual study and friendship among its members, and to foster researchers who can play an active role in the world by providing young researchers, including graduate students, with opportunities to present their research results at international conferences.

■Title
Linear Model Approach to Investigate the Comprehensive Entrainment in Conversation

■Authors
 LIU, Yuning, Unoki Masashi

■Abstract
This study investigates how speakers adapt to each other, termed as entrainment, and explores the integration of acoustic features to analyze entrainment across multiple parameters in conversation scenarios. By computing proximity, convergence, and synchrony metrics, we differentiate conversation scenarios. This study proposed a linear model to describe how different dialogue strategies modulate and integrate various speech features. Employing 193 dialogues of four scenarios data from the Chinese TV drama "Golden Marriage", the proposed method outperformed PCA in extracting integrated acoustic features and exploring entrainment across multiple parameters.

■Comment
I am very honored to receive the Student Paper Award in NCSP'24. I believe that I was able to receive this award thanks to the various opinions and support I received from my supervisor, Professor Masashi Unoki, and all the members of my laboratory. I would like to use this award as encouragement to further my research in the future.
