■Title
Attitudes towards Dual-Carbon Goals: A textual and sentiment analysis of CSR and ESG Reports of Chinese-Listed Companies

■Authors
XIE Yuqi, KIM Eunyoung

■Abstract
International efforts to address climate change have confirmed that global annual emissions are expected to be net-zero by 2050. In response, China has set forth Dual-Carbon Goals as one of its most significant environmental and energy policies. As companies are the primary actors in achieving Dual-Carbon Goals, it is essential to understand their attitudes, whether they prioritize these goals in fulfilling social responsibilities, and whether these companies are willing to implement these goals. This study explores Chinese-listed companies' attitudes through textual and sentiment analyses of their corporate sustainability reports (CSR) and Environmental-Social-Governance reports (ESG). A total of 75 reports on Chineselisted companies' social responsibilities were collected and analyzed using four textmining techniques: word frequency counting analysis, term frequency-inverse document frequency analysis (TF-IDF), word tree analysis, and sentiment analysis. The main findings are a) "environment and sustainable development" was the toppriority in the reports, evidenced by high frequencies of related keywords and contextual associations, and b) a sentiment score of 0.55 indicated a neutral but slightly positive emotional inclination toward the implementation of Dual-Carbon Goals. These results suggest that Chinese-listed companies imply a slightly positive stance toward undertaking the Dual-Carbon Goals, coupled with a considerable commitment to addressing these Goals.

■Comment
It is an honor to be awarded as "Best Presenter" in the Technical Session B of the IC3E 2025 Conference. I truly appreciate the recognition of both my research and presentation by the IC3E committee. The issue of global warming is inseparably linked to our daily lives and the future of humanity. Through this research, I aimed to shed light on how corporations, perceive and respond to carbon neutrality goals. Winning this award further motivates me to deepen my work on sustainability and climate policy. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my supervisor, Associate Professor Eunyoung Kim, for her continuous support and guidance, as well as to JAIST for providing me with a stimulating research environment. I will continue to dedicate myself to meaningful research that contributes to a more sustainable and carbon-neutral future.
