【Regarding change of status of residence】For university officials who have difficulty returning to their home country due to the COVID-19 after graduation, withdrawal, record removal from JAIST

Mid-to-long-term residents and former mid-to-long-term residents who have a status of residence of "Student" and have difficulty returning to their home country after graduation, withdrawl, record removal will be granted the status of residence of "Designated Activities (6 Months, permitted to work part-time within 28 hours a week)" .

▶ With regard to some of the applications from residents residing in the area of the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau(*), applications sent only by post to the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau are accepted. Those who live in other areas need to appear at the Yokohama branch office or branch office that has jurisdiction over their place of residence to apply. In addition, there is a deadline for the acceptance period when applying by post. When applying, please check the details on the Ministry of Justice website and follow the procedure.

In addition, International students who completed the university in 2020 and have a status of residence of "Student" and have obtained permission called "Shikakugai Katsudo Kyoka(Permit to Engage in Activity other than that Permitted under the Status of Residence Previously Granted)" will be allowed to work (part-time) within a limit of 28 hours per week without obtaining permission again.
