The 1st Research Center for Exponential Biomedical DX (Excellent Core) Seminar of 2025 was Held

On June 3 (Tue.), 2025, the "1st Research Center for Exponential Biomedical DX (Excellent Core) Seminar of 2025" was held in the shared Open Innovation Room at JAIST Innovation Plaza.

The seminar welcomed Professor Hak Soo CHOI (Department of Radiology, Harvard Medical School), who recently joined JAIST as a Cross-Appointment faculty member. He delivered a lecture titled "Bioengineering and Nanomedicine Program for Cancer Theranostics".

President Minoru TERANO opened the event with welcoming remarks, expressing his high expectations for future international collaboration.

In his lecture, Professor CHOI introduced cutting-edge research on theranostics, an integrated approach to cancer diagnosis and treatment. He explained how his team is developing tissue-specific near-infrared fluorescent probes by combining proprietary imaging technologies with innovative drug design strategies. These advances hold promise for cancer visualization, image-guided surgery, and phototherapy, contributing to progress in nanomedicine and molecular imaging.

This seminar was based on long-standing joint research between Professor CHOI and Professor Motoichi KURISAWA at JAIST. It aimed to foster international research collaboration and provide valuable learning opportunities for students and early-career researchers.

The session concluded with a lively Q&A, making the event a productive forum for knowledge exchange.

JAIST will continue to promote interdisciplinary and global research initiatives through collaboration with world-class researchers and the development of future research talent under the Research Center for Exponential Biomedical DX.
