Study Materials Science in English
It is JAIST’s policy to have the entire Ph.D. courses taught in English by our professors. It is also possible to obtain a Master’s degree just by taking courses taught in English. JAIST strongly encourages both Master’s and Ph.D. students to prepare their thesis or dissertation in English and perform the defense in English, too.

Fantastic Financial Support
JAIST offers employment-type financial aid such as University Assistant (UA) for Ph.D. students and Laboratory Assistant (LA) for Master's program students to students in order to cultivate their abilities to conduct research and to offer on-the-job training as well as financial independence. We also seek applicants who wish to enroll JAIST as MEXT scholarship students for the special program called "Entrepreneurship based Global Energy-Environment-Health Innovation Program". This scholarship program is adopted under a "Special Program that conducts priority placements for MEXT scholarship students".
