Research Center for AI and Soft Robots
In this research center, by comprehensively elucidating the “physical intelligence” embodied in the biomechanisms of living systems—where diverse functions and high adaptability are encoded—through cutting-edge observation, measurement, and analysis technologies, we aim to:
- develop environmentally responsive soft materials,
- propose highly adaptable morphological design principles, and
- harmoniously integrate control schemes that fuse generative AI (via multimodal generative models) with robotics.
This integrated approach seeks to create next-generation resilient robots that can swiftly complete tasks without extensive computation, even under changing environmental conditions.
We will also actively promote international and collaborative research and strengthen industry-academia partnerships to fully realize the potential of intelligent-material robotics and foster the emergence of new industries, thereby contributing to scientific and technological progress and revitalizing the socio-economic landscape.
*Research Centers (Research Cores) “Research Cores” are facilities that promote highly original research activity and aim to develop into “Neo Excellent Cores” under the systematic and continuous support of JAIST. |
