Q&A
Q.What is a digital certificate?
A. It is a proof of the owner's information on the Internet. The RCACI web page often refers to a "client certificate" that certifies an individual.
Q. What is the digital certificate used for?
A. It is used when connecting to the campus Wi-Fi and for JAIST-SSO authentication from off-campus.
Q. Is a digital certificate absolutely necessary?
A. It is necessary if you use the campus Wi-Fi. Also, even if you have already set up an OTP, if it is difficult for you to come to campus, we recommend issuing one in case the OTP becomes unusable. If you are not using the campus Wi-Fi and are in an environment where you can come to campus immediately if the OTP becomes unusable, there is absolutely no need to issue one.
Q. I want to use Wi-Fi on more than one device. Can I issue more than one certificate?
A. You cannot issue multiple certificates, but you can use one certificate on multiple devices. Move the certificate file (the file with the .pfx or .p12 extension downloaded when the certificate was issued, or the file created by exporting the certificate) to another PC and import it on each device. For details, see Importing and Exporting Certificates.
*If you issue a certificate on a smartphone, the file may not be downloaded correctly. Please use a PC (Windows, Mac OS) as the device on which you first issue the certificate.
