Time-limited Wi-Fi service for new students (Optional)
Date: Weekdays from October 1 to October 31, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Required: Student ID card
Location: RCACI user reception desk
JAIST Wi-Fi is available almost everywhere on campus except outdoors, but a JAIST account is required to connect. We provide Wi-Fi service for new students as a temporary network environment before they receive their JAIST account. If you wish to use this service, please see "Wi-Fi Service for New Students" and print out the account notification form.
* This service is available until the end of the month of enrollment.
* Student ID card is required to receive a Wi-Fi service account for new students.

Wi-Fi Service for New Students
Orientation for new students
Date: October 3, 2024, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Location: MS Hall (English), M Lecture Room 1,2 (Japanese)
* Please attend at the same room as the session in the AM on this day.
Orientation for new students is held for a few days after the entrance ceremony.

One part of the orientation, "JAIST Information Environment & Information Security Orientation & Hand out account" provides an overview of the JAIST Information Environment and what you should know about using the JAIST Information Environment.

You must attend this orientation in order to receive your JAIST account. All students are required to attend the orientation, even if you you were a master's student at JAIST, as the orientation is updated annually.
Distribution of JAIST accounts
Date: October 3, 2024, 2:00 p.m. or later (*After attending the orientation)
Required: Attend orientation, student ID card
* Details will be explained within the orientation.
JAIST account is required for communication from JAIST, course registration, attending lectures, etc. JAIST accounts will be distributed after the orientation "Using JAIST Information Environment".
To receive your account, you need to attend the orientation and show your student ID card. If you do not attend the orientation, enter the room during the orientation, or leave the room during the orientation, you will not receive your account.
The JAIST account handouts are as follows.
*Details differ according to position and course. The contents of each are listed on the first sheet of paper.

Please come to the RCACI reception desk with your student ID card after October 4.
*If you did not attend the orientation, you must additionally take the "Cyber Security Online Orientation for Newcomer". More information about the course is enclosed in the account handout.
Borrowing of tablet devices (optional)
<If borrowing on October 3>
Date: About 5 minutes between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on October 3 ( when there is no waiting line).
* It is not required to arrive exactly at 14:00. Crowding is expected immediately after the start of the session.

Date: About 5 minutes between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Weekdays (if there is no waiting line)

Regular students at the Ishikawa campus may borrow tablet device "Surface".
If you wish to borrow a device, please refer to the "New Student Orientation Guide" and come to the designated location during the "Borrowing of Surface" time.
- Please only come if you wish to borrow a Surface. If you have a PC sufficient for your own lectures/research, you do not need to borrow surface.
- Student ID card is required for the borrowing procedure.
- To borrow a Tablet PC, you must agree to the "Terms and Conditions for Borrowing a Tablet PC".
Please confirm the terms and conditions in advance to facilitate the process. - The process of renting out Surface takes 5-10 minutes per person.
* Surface can be borrowed even after the orientation "Borrowing of Surface". Please come to the RCACI reception desk with your student ID card.
* You can return Surface at any time when you no longer need it.
* The loan period of Surface is during your period of enrollment. Please return the Surface at the time of completion/withdrawal from the JAIST. Please also return the Surface when you anticipate that it will be difficult to return it, such as when you return home for an extended period of time.
For newcomers to the JAIST Information Environment
Date: After you receive your JAIST account
Required: JAIST account, network, PCs and other devices used for lectures and research

After receiving your JAIST account, please see the "For Newcomer" page for information on how to use and set up the information environment, including Wi-Fi, logging in, and using services from off-campus.
Agreement for Usage of Information Environment
Date: After you receive your JAIST account, by the date stated in your account handouts.
Required: JAIST account, network
Location: Web
After receiving your account, please complete the "Agreement for Usage of Information Environment" procedure. You must fully understand the purpose and contents of the items described in the orientation, and will observe then in order to use the JAIST information environment.
If you do not agree by the specified date, we may restrict your use of some of our services.
