Deletion of Box accounts and data migration
Box accounts of those who are no longer eligible to use J-Storage Box due to completion or resignation will be deleted.
For those who have completed or resigned from JAIST, please transfer all necessary data stored in your J-Storage Box as soon as possible.
For Students
【Personal Files】
Folders/files whose "Owner" is your account will not be accessible after your account is deleted.
All sharing settings will also be removed, and users who have been invited to the file will not be able to access it.
Please download the necessary files yourself.
【Invited Shared Folders】
For shared folders (folders owned by the JAI-LEON icon and "jstorage" in the name) that have been invited by faculty members or others, users other than you will be able to access the folders even after your account has been deleted.
Students whose accounts are deleted will not be able to access them themselves, so please download the data you need.
For Internal Students
If the JAIST account that uses the J-Storage Box is changed by such as internal advancement, the data can be migrated by the following method.
【Personal Files】
After getting your new account, please change the owner of your personal files to the new account by following the instructions below.
- Log in to Box with your old account
- Invite your new account to the personal files
- Change the permissions of the new account to "Owner" in the list of collaborators
【Invited Shared Folders】
Please request that the person with invite permissions for that shared folder invite your new account.
For Faculty Members
【Personal Files】
Folders/files whose "Owner" is your account will not be accessible after your account is deleted.
All sharing settings will also be removed, and users who have been invited to the file will not be able to access it.
Please download the necessary files yourself.
【Shared Folders for Research】
Shared folders for research provided to faculty members will also be inaccessible after retirement. Research data stored in the shared folders will be kept for several years after retirement, but we will not be able to provide you with the data after access rights are removed. Please download the data you need after retirement by yourself.
If you wish to transfer data to a shared folder of another non-retired faculty member, have the other faculty member invite you with an account that has editing permissions to the target folder, and use the "Move" function to move the folder.
*In the case of "Move", if the folders have the same sharing privileges, the sharing settings will be retained.
