an afternoon in Kanazawa

I sorted out a thing this morning and then went out to the city. A couple, our friends, sold some stuff on the street and we visited their place to say hello. We looked for a lump shade; there was a nice one, but could not make up our mind to buy it. We went to a tea shop to buy some tea leaves, walking back to the street slowly. We were going to buy a pack of rice crackers, but the store was already closed.

———————————————————————————————————————

I found Rach’s 2nd sonata so powerful that it burns away my negative
feeling when I have finished playing it. I like the second movement.
I did not notice when the second ended and the third movement started
today, though.

I played some pieces by Debussy. I am not particularly fond of his
compositions, but I realized that you need a complexity in your mind
to appreciate its elegance and beauty. Those pieces are certainly
beyond words. I felt something in me that cannot be verbalized, a
vague discontent or ill feeling, but it was gone after I have gone
through those pieces. I may have understood his music a bit
better. Perplexity. It is one of the reasons why we need music.
